Yearning to become a better bowler? Here’s how to bowl your best game and bowl your mates over.

Get in the moment
Remember, bowling is a game. Leave your cares outside the bowling alley and concentrate on what you’re doing. Not only will you have more fun, but your game will improve as well.

Have a ball
Choose your bowling ball with care. Pick a ball that is neither too heavy nor too light for you. It’s a good idea to have a ball of your own because it will save you the time and effort of choosing from rental balls at every bowling alley you go to. Besides, if you like your ball and are comfortable with it, you’re more likely to enjoy bowling and to do it well.

Step by step
How you approach the foul line is up to you. Some bowlers use three steps. Others use a four-step or five-step approach, which allows the bowler to develop more momentum and makes the ball seem lighter.

It’s hip to be square
For a consistent delivery, keep your shoulders square to the foul line and keep your back straight. At first you may have trouble remembering to do this, but keep reminding yourself, and it will eventually become automatic. Keeping your back straight doesn’t mean that your upper body should point straight to the sky at all times. You may have to bend slightly when you release the ball, but you should bend from the waist instead of bending your back.

Around the bend
When throwing, don’t bend your arm or swing it away from your body. Keep it relatively straight and close to your body. It’s okay to bend your arm slightly at the elbow as long as the inside of your elbow is pointed down the lane.

Relax, don’t do it
Don’t rush your approach to the foul line, or you’ll have trouble maintaining proper position and keeping your balance.

Get close…
…to the foul line, that is. You should be about six inches from the foul line when you release the ball. This will lift the ball a short distance over the foul line before it touches the lane, allowing it to go farther. If you release the ball too far from the foul line, it will lose speed before it hits the pins.

Easy does it
Keep your fingers, especially your thumb, relaxed as you hold the ball. Don’t squeeze your fingers or grip the ball too tightly, or you’ll mess up your throw. This is another good reason to have a ball of your own that fits your fingers properly. Use finger inserts if the holes on your ball don’t fit right.

The art of letting go
You should release the ball as it is moving past the ankle of your sliding foot, that is, the foot you take your last step with. If you are right-handed, you slide with your left foot, and if you are left-handed, you slide with your right foot. As you slide, or take your last step, you need to bend your knee to get the ball low enough to pass your sliding ankle, then straighten the knee as you release the ball. This is a difficult movement to perfect, but your coordination will improve as you practice.

As you bend your knee, you can bend your upper body 15 to 20 degrees forward. Remember to bend from your waist and keep your back straight!

Remember, remember
Always remember to follow through. This completes the movement and increases the power of your delivery. To check if you’re following through, freeze your arm after you release the ball. Your hand should be at the level of your shoulder or higher, and it should face the target.

Eyes on the prize
Keep your eyes on the target at all times. This will keep your head steady and your body properly aligned.

Think it through
If you’re not happy with your game, ask yourself what you might be doing wrong. Analyze your movements from the moment you take your first step to the moment you let the ball go. Whether you’re playing or practicing, think about what you’re doing. Be aware of the position of your shoulders, back, and throwing arm.

Be yourself
Develop your own style and don’t try to copy another bowler. Your game depends on how well you can make your own movements work. That said, it would be helpful to watch the games of professional bowlers on TV and pay close attention to they way they move. Seeing how the pros do it might help you identify and correct your own mistakes.

Etonic Women’s Jepara 2 SC Walking Shoes This Jepara shoe has a lightweight upper that will provide exceptional overall comfort. The new four-way stretch material in the forefoot and memory foam in the tongue and ankle collar add two new areas of ultimate comfort.
Customer Review: Etoninc Jepara 2
I ordered this shoe before leaving on vacation. First, the shoe arrived a week late, so I found it necessary to buy something else locally. The other problem was the shoe itself. It is a very similiar style to the shoe I currently own (which is light grey and fuschia). The newer style (lime and white) was a tighter fit in the toes and not seated quite the same way. It simply was not as comfortable as the shoes I own. I hope that Etonic will make the previous shoe style. I bought them last year on clearance and they are the best shoes I have ever owned! This one is going back though. Thanks.

There are really only two needed items to play the game of bowling. The first is the ball and the second is the bowling shoes. You don?t need to own either of these as it is standard practice to rent them at the bowling alley. However it won?t take you long to realize that most serious bowlers have their own ball and bowling shoes.

The reason for that is fairly simple when it comes to the bowling shoes. And if you have ever used rented bowling shoes, you probably can well understand why. If the bowling shoes do not fit properly then it is distracting. If you have your own pair of bowling shoes then they become an extension of your feet, they fit properly and feel good and you get used to their little quirks and the way they glide on the lane.

If you are new to bowling you may not even realize that special shoes are mandatory. They are because of the gliding motion one makes when approaching the lane and releasing the ball. Regular tennis shoes cannot give that glide.

In fact, when it comes to bowling shoes, each shoe is designed differently as they function independent of each other. One shoe is glossy smooth so it gives the bowler a flawless glide. The other shoe has a stickier sole so it acts as a brake to stop the glide.

This is why bowling shoes not only come in various sizes but also come in a designation of left and right. A right handed bowler will want the brake shoe on the opposite foot than a left handed bowler would wear it.

If you have to rent your bowling shoes at the alley, chances are you will not get to select left or right handed bowling shoes. This is another major reason that anyone who loves to bowl on a regular basis will purchase their own shoes.

Bowling is one of the most popular games in the world and it is a game of utmost precision. Your bowling shoes must be lightweight and fit properly so that you can tell right away if your stance is off. If your foot happens to be positioned improperly, it can ruin the chance for a strike.

Bowling shoes today are much more fashionable than in times past. They look more like sneakers. Of course you can still buy the more traditional appearing shoe. In fact, bowling shoes come in a wide variety of styles and colors as it isn?t the outward appearance of the shoe, but rather the sole which plays an important part in the game of bowling.

Bowling shoes must be cared for properly and never worn outside of the bowling alley and certainly never worn on the street. You can buy bowling shoes at a major sporting good store or through your local bowling center. You can actually shop online for bowling shoes too. That way you can get an idea of what is available and the price range. But it is always best to try them on before you buy. You can?t really tell how well they are going to feel and fit until they are on your feet. And since bowling shoes are vitally important to your ability to be able to bowl with precision, you want to take the effort to get the best shoes possible.

SL160 Cricket Bowling Tips for Flawless Bowling Brunswick Groovy 2 Ball Roller The Brunswick Groovy 2 Ball Roller bowling bag is made from a durable and abrasion-resistant 600D nylon construction. The roller showcases a 2-wheel design with a retractable round handle, and it features a large shoe and accessory pocket.

It is a sight to behold for cricket fans to see a fast bowler running from his bowling mark to deliver the perfect Yorker or bouncer to a batsman. In a game of cricket, Bowlers can be mainly categorized into 3 categories: Fast, Medium Fast and Spin Bowlers. Cricket is a game, which is said to be more a batsman friendly game. In a game where batsmen have all the advantages, bowlers must make use of all the cricket bowling tips that they have up their sleeves to unsettle the batsman.

To become a successful bowler you must have some amount of natural ability. Most of the successful bowlers of the world like Glen McGrath, Brett Lee, Shaun Pollock and Anil Kumble have very athletic body and based on their natural bowling ability they have been hugely successful. Whether you are a fast, slow or spin bowler, you must know the entire cricket bowling tips to be a successful bowler. A good bowler never lets go of any chance to learn any new cricket bowling tips.

To be a successful bowler first and foremost you must have the perfect grip for holding the ball correctly. There is a different grip and way of holding the ball for spinners and fast bowlers. So depending on the kind of bowler, one must choose the proper grip for holding the ball. However, there is a basic grip that you can use for holding the ball in your hand. This grip is to keep the seam of the ball vertical. You must hold the ball with your middle finger and index finger with the seam in between.

Being physically fit is one of the most important criteria for being a successful bowler. There has hardly been any bowler in the International cricket arena, who has not been injured throughout his cricketing career. In fact injuries are part and parcel of any bowler?s life. So if you want to be become the best bowler in the world you will have to take special care of your body. Follow a strict diet regime and exercise regularly to have the perfect body weight and shape to become a successful bowler.

If at any point you get injured do not make any delay in seeking medical help. The rehabilitation process can take a very long time and thus it is very important for you to follow whatever your physical therapist asks you to do. Take special care of your diet and religiously follow the strict diet regime set by your physio. Your delivery stride and position can get affected if you do not have the proper physical health.

Remember it takes you only one ball to get a batsman out, even if he is the best batsman in the world. It is natural that you will get hit for runs, but try to bowl each ball as a new ball and you will surely succeed. Simple lapses in concentration on the part of the batsman can prove to be his undoing, so bowl each ball very carefully with the proper grip and the correct deliver stride.

Customer Review: Learn from a Hall of Famer-Parker Bohn III
I have been bowling for 30 years, I have been a regional PBA bowler for 14 years carrying over a 210 average for many years. This book gives you much insight on how to develope your own game. He teaches you HOW to practice and when to stop practicing. Think about that, how many times at practice do you just throw the ball without thinking much. He instructs you to go practice with a goal and purpose. He goes into stories on how when he was young and met Mark Roth; Mark told him he is good, but he needs to make spares. Parker tells stories on how he made the TV finals by less than 10 pins because his competition got lazy and missed spares. Parker shows you how to best line up to make spares. He also goes into ball drilling, weights, pin placements, etc. Experiment and find what works best for you. Many great 1 page inserts from other bowlers; example-Chris Barnes on how he barely made the college bowling team. Just a great book, many awesome pictures, definately worth the price.
Customer Review: Mastering the game
This book is definately great if you are a visual learning like myself. It is a very informative book with great diagrams and pictures so you can see exactly where, what, and how to hit your target. Definately recommend to all the visual learners out there.
